Swim team is successful thanks to parent volunteers. Based on the number of families and swimmers, parents are expected to volunteer at least 3 times during the season. If you know you're missing a meet in June, please plan accordingly and volunteer at the meets you are able to attend. Thank you for your help making summer swim team possible!
Volunteer Positions:
- Timer is a good role if you have multiple kids swimming and/or love watching all of the swimmers. There are two volunteers (one from each team) at every lane and one starts and stops the stopwatch and/or time drop and the other records the time on the clipboard.
- Head Timer holds two stopwatches and starts each at the beginning of each race. This back up stopwatch is only needed if a Timer's stopwatch goes out.
- Runner walks around and picks up timer sheets from Timers and delivers them to Time Drops table.
- Ribbon Volunteer is sitting at a table (in the shade) and putting the stickers on the ribbons. It starts a little later b/c the meet has to start and run for long enough to have results stickers printed. Second shift volunteer will be there for about 20-30 mins after the meet to finish the ribbons.
- Stroke Judge - if you have prior swim experience, this is a great spot for you! You will be asked to watch about 10 minutes of videos put out by USA Swimming in advance of your first time volunteering for this role (a link will be sent to you).
- Bull Pen - to run the bullpen it is helpful to know most of the swimmers. Please bring a printed heat sheet to use.
- Concessions Volunteer works in the concession stand, selling candy, pizza, gatorade. This job is in the air conditioning but you can't see the pool.
- Announcer sits at the announcer table and announces each event.
-
Starter sits with Announcer and pushes the Time Drop Starter button as well as the bullhorn button to start each race.
